CPC won the FIRST PRIZE in the International Competition for the Strategic Development Plan of the East Coastal Area in Lianyungang

CPC won the FIRST PRIZE in the International Competition for the Strategic Development Plan of the East Coastal Area in Lianyungang in November 2005.

The competition was organized by the Planning Bureau of the Lianyungang city, Jiangsu Province, which is one of the earliest 14 coastal open cities in China. The study involves the preparation of a development strategy for the 1,000 sq.km. eastern coastal region fronting Yellow Sea to provide a co-ordinated framework for port, industry, tourism, logistics, and urban development in the coming decades. As an integral part of the study, a conceptual urban design proposal was also prepared for the future coastal city centre based on strong, attractive and modern harbour themes.

CPC won in the two rounds of evaluation, including the technical panel as well as the public voting during the public exhibition period, which recorded some 40,000 number of visitors. The Urban Planning and Design Institute of Shenzhen got the second prize. Other participants include Obermeyer (Germany), RTKL (US), Atkins (UK), Nippon Sekkei (Japan), and the Zhejiang Institute of City Planning and Design. (04.01.2006)
